Rechargeable Battery / Ichinomiya City

TL;DR

Rechargeable Battery is classified as "Small appliances using lithium-ion batteries, etc." in Ichinomiya City.

How to dispose 5 STEPS
  1. 1 Put them out on the same collection days as burnable garbage (Mon & Thu, or Tue & Fri; this depends on your area, so check your district's garbage calendar), at the burnable garbage collection point.
  2. 2 Use a clear or see-through bag and tie it tightly. Do not use the city's designated bags for burnable, non-burnable or recyclable waste. Cover the battery terminals with cellophane tape or similar.
  3. 3 If the battery can be removed from the appliance, put out only the rechargeable battery. The appliance body goes out as Non-burnable Garbage or Oversized Items depending on its size and weight (items 60 cm or more on one side that do not fit in a designated bag, and items weighing 6 kg or more, are Oversized Items).
  4. 4 For palm-sized products (roughly within 15 cm high x 30 cm wide) whose battery is hard to remove, do not force it out; put the product out as it is. Items much larger than palm size should be taken directly to the Environment Center or disposed of as Oversized Items.
  5. 5 Recycling cooperating stores such as electronics retailers also collect them. Small appliances whose battery cannot be removed can also go into the Small Appliance Collection Boxes if they are within 15 cm x 30 cm.

Important Notes

Collection schedules and sorting rules may change. Please check the official website for the latest information.

  • Put them out separately from burnable garbage. Do not put them in, or tie them to, the burnable garbage bag (the yellow designated bag).
  • Never put out rechargeable batteries, or small appliances with the battery still inside, as Non-burnable Garbage. They can cause fires.
  • Swollen, deformed or hot batteries must not go to the collection point or into the Small Appliance Collection Box (damaged batteries also cannot go out for collection). They are collected free of charge at the Environment Center North Building Recycling Exhibition Room (Mon-Fri, 9:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m.) or at the resource drop-off collection held at 4 sites in the city (Sat-Sun, 9:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m.).
  • Lead-acid batteries such as car batteries cannot be put out.
