Important Notes

Collection schedules and sorting rules may change. Please check the official website for the latest information.

  • If the rechargeable battery cannot be removed, never put it out on the non-burnable (chipped) waste collection day.
  • The rules changed in December 2024 after a fire at a recycling plant in November 2024. The city lists rechargeable toys as an example of products whose rechargeable batteries cannot be removed.
  • Removed dry-cell and rechargeable batteries: insulate them with cellophane tape, put each type in its own bag, and put them out on the 'Burnable Oversized Items' collection day (rechargeable batteries can also be taken to a collection point).
  • Collection points (no booking or fee): Recycle Plaza (drop-off also on Saturdays and Sundays), Fukuyama Rose Energy Center (drop-off also on Sundays), the Southern, Western, Northern and Eastern Fukuyama Environmental Centers, Keiohama Landfill, and the Waste Countermeasures Division (8th floor, Fukuyama City Hall).
  • Outside Utsumi-cho, the 'Burnable Oversized Items' collection day comes only four times a year. Check the date and place on the city's collection schedule (the place may differ from your usual garbage station).
  • Utsumi-cho has no 'Burnable Oversized Items' collection day. Use a collection point at a public facility (if you cannot take it there, ask the Utsumi Branch Office or your nearest Environmental Center).
